To participate, you grab any book, go to page 123, find the fifth sentence, and blog it. Then tag five people.

apparently 3 books is considered both gallant and urbane

"Why didn't their father let them out of the Dark Castle?"
The Diamond Age - Neal Stephenson
'I am so sorry to have abandoned you so long,' Laurence said, leaning against his side and petting him, more for his own comfort than Temeraire's.
Temeraire - Naomi Novik (not hard to guess, I guess)
-And Brutus was Cæsar's son, adopted by him.
    The Solitudes - John Crowley

All from my tottering, bedside to-be-read pile, so not all of them are all read.
I tag [info]trivia_lad9000, [info]aquarionical, [info]stoogoff, [info]rachelrayns, and [info]lalajia 'cos we all need an old meme at 7am on a Saturday!

What we need is a Neuromancer quote.
"It's not like I'm using," Case heard someone say, as he shouldered his way through the crowd around the door of the Chat. "It's like my body's developed this massive drug deficiency." It was a Sprawl voice and a Sprawl joke.

Umm...I'm not sure what to feel now...
I'm divorced; no longer married; not part of the team.

It is truly a sensation you cannot know without having done it.

    Strange.

    Good job I have iPlayer
    I have an Xbox360.
I recently moved it to the sitting-room (communal area in the flat) when a shiny, big, new tv arrived.
    My flatmate discovers Xbox360.
My flatmate discovers the only game I have for Xbox360...Halo 3.

I don't get to watch tv anymore, and I suspect she is becoming a better sniper than me.

    Son: "Dad?"
    Me: "Yes."
Son: "Do you remember that night you took us to, with zombies and pizza?"
    Me: "Yes."
Son: "That was the best night of my life."

    London Book Fair
I think that a good LJ post is like a well-formed email; ideally it should deal with just the one subject, and not sprawl over several unrelated points, so that responses (if there are going to be any) can be similarly concise and to the point.

I am going to break this rule. First of all I have registered and will be going to the London Book Fair on one of the three days it is on - 14th-16th April. I haven't decided precisely which day as that is week 10 and it is bound to clash with something. However, one of the reasons I am going is to research some possibilities for my third-year project, and so I consider this a worthy venture. It is quite possible that I will be driving down, and so if anyone else is thinking of going; you may want to think about registering now to get in for free, and if you do you might want to liaise with me.

the far less frivolous part of this post is brought to you by the digital cinema exhibition industry and its jargon. When certain digital projectors get a new film it arrives on an HDD very like the one in your pc. This is slotted into the projector, which then copies across, decompresses, decrypts etc. the film. This is called "ingesting". My life would be made perfect if the projector could be made to make, "Nom-nom-nom" noises during this process.

*It used to be the London International Book Fair, but I suspect it is now *so* international it doesn't actually need to boast about it..
